Tango Alternatives in 2026: 7 Tools Compared by Job

Seven Tango alternatives sorted by the job you use Tango for, from written SOPs and local guides to narrated how-to videos and interactive demos. Prices checked October 2026.

By Bibin Mathew, founder of Nook · Published · 13 min read

Tango captures a process as you click through it and writes a step-by-step guide with screenshots. It can also walk people through those steps inside the real app. Teams use it to build a shared library of how-tos for onboarding, support and operations. People still look for something else: cheaper seats for a small team, guides that stay on their own computer, a narrated video next to the steps, or a demo a customer can click through. This page sorts seven alternatives by the job you use Tango for.

Written by Bibin Mathew, who makes Nook. Prices checked on October 29, 2026 on each vendor's pricing page.

Short answer

The best Tango alternative depends on the job:

  • Written SOPs captured as you click, the closest like-for-like switch: Scribe.
  • Written SOPs that stay on your own computer, paid once: Folge.
  • A written guide and a video from the same capture, on a small budget: Dubble.
  • Short how-to videos with AI narration plus a written version: Guidde.
  • A narrated video and a written guide from a recording you already made: Nook.
  • Interactive click-through demos for prospects and new users: Supademo.
  • Quick, personal video explanations: Loom.

If your team lives in a shared library of written workflows and uses Tango's on-screen guidance, Tango is still one of the better tools for that, and its team rate drops as you add people. The alternatives make the most sense when you need something Tango does not focus on.

Why people look for a Tango alternative

Tango is quick to learn and the guides look clean. The reasons people switch are mostly about the free limit, per-user pricing for small teams, where the guides live, and whether a written guide is enough.

What Tango costs in 2026

As of October 29, 2026, the Tango pricing page lists:

PlanBilled monthlyBilled yearlyUsersWhat it adds
Free$0$0Up to 10 per workspace5 shared workflows, browser capture, link and embed sharing
Pro (1 to 2 users)$30/user/month$22/user/month1 to 2Unlimited workflows, desktop capture, PDF, Markdown and HTML export, video embeds, AI content, blur, on-screen guidance
Pro (3+ users)$20/user/month$15/user/month3 or moreSame as Pro, at the team rate
EnterpriseCustomCustomCustomSSO and SCIM, automatic PII redaction, translation into 15 languages, Guide Me, Pins, Automations

The free plan is a trial in practice

Free covers up to 10 users but only 5 shared workflows. That is enough to see whether Tango fits, not enough to document a team's processes. Export to PDF, Markdown or HTML is a Pro feature, so on Free you share by link or embed.

Small teams pay the higher rate

One or two people pay $22 per user per month billed yearly. A two-person team is $528 a year. The rate drops to $15 at three users. If only one person writes the docs, you pay the top rate.

Some features you saw in demos are on Enterprise

The pricing page lists Guide Me, Pins, Automations, workflow translation and automatic PII redaction on Enterprise. Pro has manual blur and lets you send on-screen guidance. If translation or automatic redaction is the reason you picked Tango, check which plan you are actually on.

A written guide is not always enough

Tango's output is screenshots, highlights and text. For customer onboarding, training and launch content, many teams also want a short narrated video, because some people would rather watch than read.

You already recorded the process

Tango captures as you click. If you already have a Zoom, QuickTime or Loom recording of the process, Tango cannot use it. You would click through it again.

Scribe

What it is. Scribe does Tango's core job. It watches you click through a process and builds a written guide with screenshots and short instructions.

Best for. Teams who want to keep the same workflow, capture as you click, and compare price and polish.

Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Scribe pricing page: Basic is free for web apps. Pro Personal is $35 per seat per month, or $25 billed yearly, with desktop and mobile capture, branding and PDF, HTML, Markdown and Word export. Pro Team is $17 per seat per month, or $13 billed yearly, starting at 5 seats, and adds comments. Enterprise is custom, with automatic PII and PHI redaction, SSO, roles and translations.

Strengths.

  • The free plan is useful on its own for web apps.
  • Word export, which Tango's pricing page does not list.
  • At five or more people, Pro Team is cheaper per seat than Tango's team rate.

Where it falls short vs Tango. Pro Team requires 5 seats, so a team of three pays for five or goes on Pro Personal at $25 a seat. Scribe is guide-first and, like Tango, does not make a narrated video. Our Scribe alternatives page compares this category in more detail.

Folge

What it is. Folge is a desktop app for Windows and Mac that takes a screenshot each time you click and builds a step-by-step guide. Guides are stored on your computer.

Best for. One person or a small team who documents processes, wants the files to stay local, and would rather pay once than every month.

Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Folge pricing page: Free covers up to 5 guides with PDF export. Personal is $89 one-time for one machine on one platform, with unlimited guides, 8 export formats including WordPress and Notion, and lifetime updates. Business is $155 per seat one-time, covering Mac and Windows, with Confluence and Hudu export and user management. Prices exclude VAT, and there is a 7-day money-back guarantee.

Strengths.

  • A one-time license, which is cheaper over years than any subscription here.
  • Guides stay on your machine.
  • Many export formats.

Where it falls short vs Tango. There is no shared cloud library and no on-screen guidance. Online hosting is capped at 20 guides. There is no video. Collaboration on Business is offline.

Dubble

What it is. Dubble is a Chrome extension that builds a written guide as you click. On Pro it also records your screen and audio, so you get a video alongside the steps.

Best for. Small teams who want a guide and a video from one capture at a low price.

Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Dubble pricing page: Free has guides with PDF download and unlimited private viewers, but no screen or audio recording. Pro is $18 a month billed yearly, with 3 creators included and $6 a month for each extra creator, plus screen and audio recording. Enterprise is custom. The page did not list a monthly-billed Pro price.

Strengths.

  • Three creators for less than one Tango Pro seat billed yearly.
  • Video and guide from one capture.
  • A 14-day Pro trial.

Where it falls short vs Tango. No on-screen guidance in the app. The pricing page does not mention AI narration, so the video is your own voice as recorded. SSO and API access are marked coming soon on Enterprise.

Guidde

What it is. Guidde records a workflow through its browser extension, desktop app or mobile app, and generates a how-to video with an AI voiceover, plus a written version.

Best for. Teams who want each Tango-style process as a short narrated video, without recording their own voice.

Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Guidde pricing page: Free is $0 for any web app. Pro is $29 per creator per month, or $19 billed yearly, and adds watermark removal, branding and export. Business is $59 per creator per month, or $39 billed yearly, and adds desktop and mobile capture and interactive demos. Enterprise is custom. Two sections of the page described the free plan's video limit differently when we checked, so confirm it.

Strengths.

  • AI voiceover in more than 50 languages, so nobody has to narrate.
  • Video and written version from the same capture.
  • Viewers are free.

Where it falls short vs Tango. Pricing is per creator, and desktop capture is on Business. Uploading an existing video is on Business and Enterprise. Translation is on Enterprise. See Guidde alternatives for more.

Nook

What it is. Nook turns a screen recording you already have into a narrated demo video and a step-by-step guide with a screenshot per step. You upload an MP4, MOV or WebM up to 15 minutes from any recorder. Nook finds the steps, writes and voices the narration, and adds captions and zooms on clicks. You can use an AI voice, keep your own voice with ums and silences cut, or use captions only. Emails, card numbers and API keys on screen are blurred automatically. The guide exports to PDF, Word or Markdown.

Best for. Teams who want a video and a written guide for the same process, especially when the recording already exists. It fits SOP videos for onboarding and training, customer onboarding videos, and handover kits for clients, where several videos sit on one page.

Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Nook pricing page: your first video is free, up to 1 minute, watermarked and view only. Starter is $9 a month for 5 videos. Pro is $19 a month for 20 videos, with every language, your own cloned voice, branded guides and kits. Business is $49 a month for 60 videos, with white-label pages and priority rendering. Yearly billing gives 2 months free. Extra videos are 5 for $9. No plan has seats.

Strengths.

  • Works from recordings you already made, even silent ones.
  • A narrated video and a written guide from one upload.
  • Language versions, each its own MP4 and guide. See translated demo videos.
  • Pricing by videos, so a few people can share one plan.

Where it falls short vs Tango. Nook does not capture clicks and does not record your screen. If you want a guide to build itself while you click, Tango, Scribe or Folge is the more direct fit. There is no on-screen guidance in your app, no shared workspace with seats, no knowledge base hosting and no SSO. Recordings top out at 15 minutes. More on the workflow in how to turn a screen recording into a step-by-step guide.

Supademo

What it is. Supademo builds interactive demos: click-through walkthroughs of your product that a viewer steps through at their own pace.

Best for. Sales, marketing and customer success teams who want customers or prospects to try a flow, rather than read it.

Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Supademo pricing page: Free is 1 creator and 5 interactive demos. Scale is $50 per creator per month, or $38 billed yearly, with branching and analytics. Business is $249 a month, or $199 billed yearly. Growth is $450 a month, or $350 billed yearly, with 5 creators bundled. Enterprise is custom.

Strengths.

  • Purpose-built for interactive, customer-facing walkthroughs.
  • Share as a link, embed, video or PDF.
  • Unlimited external views.

Where it falls short vs Tango. It is not an internal SOP library, and it costs more per creator than Tango Pro.

Loom

What it is. Loom records your screen and camera and gives you a link to share.

Best for. Quick, personal explanations where a written guide would be overkill.

Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Loom pricing page: Starter is free with 25 videos per person and 5-minute recordings. Business is $18 per user per month. Business + AI is $24 per user per month and adds AI titles, summaries and chapters. Enterprise is custom. The page says annual billing saves up to 17% but did not show the annual price.

Strengths.

  • The fastest way to record and share.
  • Comments and reactions on the video.

Where it falls short vs Tango. Loom does not make a step-by-step guide with screenshots. If you have Loom recordings of your processes, you can download them and run them through Nook to get a narrated video and a written guide. See Loom alternatives.

How to choose

Start from the job

  1. An internal library of written SOPs. Stay on Tango, or try Scribe. Compare them at your real team size.
  2. SOPs that must stay off the cloud. Folge, paid once.
  3. On-screen guidance inside your apps. This is where Tango is strongest among these tools. If it is your main job, also look at dedicated digital adoption platforms.
  4. Video plus guide. Dubble and Guidde capture fresh in their own tools. Nook works from a recording you already have.
  5. Interactive walkthroughs for prospects and new users. Supademo.
  6. A quick personal explanation. Loom.

Compare the pricing model, not just the price

  • Per user, seat or creator (Tango, Scribe, Guidde, Supademo, Loom) is predictable and grows with the team. Scribe Pro Team needs 5 seats; Tango's rate drops at 3 users.
  • One-time license (Folge) is cheapest over years if one or two people own documentation.
  • Bundled creators (Dubble Pro includes 3) is cheap for small teams.
  • Videos per month (Nook) costs the same whoever makes the video. Two people making 10 videos a month between them pay $19 on Nook Pro, compared with $44 a month on Tango Pro yearly for written guides. We explain why we chose this model in pricing by videos, not seats.

Moving your content out of Tango

Export your workflows to PDF, Markdown or HTML before you cancel. Export is on Pro. Markdown is the easiest format to bring into Notion, Confluence or a docs site. If you plan to add video, record each process once with any recorder, then turn the recording into a video and guide.

FAQ

What is the best Tango alternative?

It depends on the job. Scribe is the closest match for click-captured SOPs. Folge is best for local, one-time-purchase guides. Dubble and Guidde give you a guide and a video. Nook makes a narrated video and guide from a recording you already have. Supademo is for interactive demos.

Tango vs Scribe: which is better?

Can I make a step-by-step guide from a video I already recorded?

Are these prices current?

We checked each one on the vendor's official pricing page on October 29, 2026 and linked the source. Vendors change plans often, so confirm before you buy.
