Loom is the default way many teams record their screen and camera and send a link. It is fast, nearly everyone knows how to watch one, and the free plan gets you started. People still look elsewhere: the free plan's 5-minute cap, per-user pricing as a team grows, AI features on the higher tier, or because what they make with Loom is really a product demo or a how-to guide that needs more polish than a quick recording. This page sorts seven alternatives by the job you use Loom for.
Written by Bibin Mathew, who makes Nook. Prices checked on October 29, 2026 on each vendor's pricing page.
Short answer
The best Loom alternative depends on the job:
- Quick async screen messages, screenshots and GIFs at a lower price: Zight.
- Sales prospecting videos with CRM tracking and AI avatars: Vidyard.
- Polished, presentation-style recordings you can edit: Tella.
- Beautiful product demos recorded on a Mac: Screen Studio.
- Editing recordings like a document, with AI voices: Descript.
- Turning a recording you already have, including a Loom download, into a narrated demo and a written guide: Nook.
- Short how-to videos with AI narration, captured as you click: Guidde.
If what you need is a quick, personal message with your face and voice, sent as a link with comments, Loom is still one of the best tools for that. Most of the alternatives below win on a specific job, not on Loom's core one.
Why people look for a Loom alternative
What Loom costs in 2026
As of October 29, 2026, the Loom pricing page lists four plans. All are per user. The page says annual billing saves up to 17%, but it shows only the per-month prices below and does not list the annual figures.
| Plan | Price | Videos | Recording length | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $0 | 25 per person | 5 min | Up to 50 members, 720p, viewer insights |
| Business | $18/user/month | Unlimited | Unlimited | Up to 4K, remove Loom branding, trim and stitch, edit by transcript, password protection |
| Business + AI | $24/user/month | Unlimited | Unlimited | AI titles, summaries, chapters and tasks, filler word and silence removal, meeting notes |
| Enterprise | Custom | Unlimited | Unlimited | SAML SSO, SCIM, custom data retention, uptime SLA |
The free plan is tight
Five minutes per recording and 25 videos per person is fine for trying Loom. It runs out quickly if you use it every day, and longer walkthroughs need a paid plan.
Per-user pricing adds up
Business is $18 per user per month, and the AI tier is $24. A ten-person team on Business + AI pays $240 a month at the listed rate. If only some of them record often, you pay for everyone.
AI cleanup is on the higher tier
Filler word and silence removal, AI titles, summaries and chapters are on Business + AI. Business alone gives you basic trimming and transcript editing.
A quick recording is not a polished demo
Loom records you as you are. There is no AI script that turns what you said into clean steps, no AI voice to replace yours, and no step-by-step guide with screenshots. For a landing page demo, an app review screencast, a help center video or a client handover, many people want more polish than a raw recording gives.
You want a different recorder
Some people want a Mac recorder with smooth zooms and cursor effects, some want a recorder built for sales outreach, and some just want screenshots and GIFs in the same tool.
Loom alternatives at a glance

Zight
What it is. Zight (formerly CloudApp) records screen and camera videos, takes screenshots and makes GIFs, all shared by link. It is the closest like-for-like replacement for Loom's quick message job.
Best for. Support, product and engineering teams who send lots of quick visual explanations, including screenshots and GIFs, not only videos.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Zight pricing page: Share is free with 5-minute recordings, 720p and 15-second GIFs. Create is $9.95 per user per month billed yearly, with unlimited recording length, 4K and 5 AI summaries a month. Collaborate is $12 per user per month billed yearly for teams of 2 or more, with unlimited AI features, custom branding and a custom domain. Scale is custom, with SSO and SCIM. The page did not list monthly-billed prices.
Strengths.
- Cheaper per user than Loom Business at the listed yearly rate.
- Screenshots, GIFs and video in one tool.
- Custom domain and branding on Collaborate.
Where it falls short vs Loom. Loom is more widely known, so viewers are more used to it. Zight's free plan has the same 5-minute cap. Like Loom, it records as you are and does not write a guide.
Vidyard
What it is. Vidyard is a video platform for sales teams. You record prospecting and follow-up videos, track who watched them, and on paid tiers connect to your CRM. It also offers AI avatars and an AI video agent that creates videos for you.
Best for. Sales and revenue teams who send video in outreach and want analytics tied to their pipeline.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). The live Vidyard pricing page did not show the Starter price when we checked. Vidyard's own published pricing file lists Free with 5 recorded videos a month, recordings up to 30 minutes, 15 AI videos and 3 custom AI avatars. Starter is $89 per seat per month, or $59 billed annually, with unlimited recording and full analytics. Teams, for 5 or more people, and Enterprise are custom. A Video Agent add-on for Starter is $29 per seat per month, or $24 billed annually.
Strengths.
- Built around sales, with viewer analytics.
- Longer free recordings than Loom, at 30 minutes.
- AI avatars for personalized outreach.
Where it falls short vs Loom. Starter costs much more per seat than Loom Business, and CRM integrations are on the custom Teams plan. It is aimed at sales, so it is a heavy choice for internal updates.
Tella
What it is. Tella records your screen and camera in clips and lets you edit them into a polished, presentation-style video with layouts and backgrounds. You share a link or export.
Best for. Creators, founders and educators who want recordings that look produced, without a full video editor.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Tella pricing page: Pro is $13 per user per month billed annually, with 4,500 credits per user a month, unlimited videos, 4K recording, clips up to 6 hours and 106 languages. Premium is $19 per user per month billed annually and adds a custom domain, removing Tella branding and 4K at 60 FPS. Enterprise is custom, with SSO and SCIM. The page did not show monthly-billed prices or a free plan.
Strengths.
- More polish than a raw Loom, with light editing.
- Long clips and 4K.
- A lower listed per-user price than Loom Business.
Where it falls short vs Loom. It is built for produced videos, so a two-second reply to a teammate is slower than in Loom. Its AI features use credits that expire each month.
Screen Studio
What it is. Screen Studio is a Mac screen recorder that adds automatic zooms, smooth cursor movement, camera layouts, captions and noise reduction. It also has share links where viewers can watch in a browser and comment.
Best for. Founders and product marketers on a Mac who record launch videos and product demos and want them to look good with little effort.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Screen Studio website: $29 a month, or $9 a month billed yearly, with every feature on every plan. Students and educators get 40% off. One-time licenses are no longer sold to new buyers.
Strengths.
- Very polished results from a plain recording.
- Share links up to 30 minutes at 1080p and 60 fps.
- One plan with everything.
Where it falls short vs Loom. It runs only on macOS, and the site says there are no near-term plans for Windows. It is a recorder and editor, not a team video library.
Descript
What it is. Descript records your screen and lets you edit audio and video by editing the transcript. It has filler word removal, AI voices, voice clones, captions and dubbing.
Best for. People who make recorded tutorials, podcasts and explainers and want real editing without a timeline-heavy editor.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Descript pricing page: Free has 1 hour of media a month and 720p export. Hobbyist is $24 per person per month, or $16 billed yearly, with 10 hours of media. Creator is $35, or $24 billed yearly, with 30 hours and 4K. Business is $65, or $50 billed yearly, with 40 hours. Enterprise is custom. The page says annual billing saves up to 35%.
Strengths.
- Edit by transcript, including filler word removal, on paid plans from Hobbyist.
- AI voices and your own voice clone.
- Translation and dubbing.
Where it falls short vs Loom. Descript is an editor first. Sending a quick message takes more steps than in Loom, and media hours are metered.
Nook
What it is. Nook does not record. It takes a screen recording you already have, from Loom, QuickTime, OBS, Zoom or a phone, and turns it into a narrated demo video and a step-by-step written guide. You upload an MP4, MOV or WebM up to 15 minutes. Nook finds the steps and writes a script line for each one. You choose an AI voice, keep your own voice with ums and silences cut, or use captions only. It adds zooms on clicks, captions, intro and outro cards with your logo and background music, and blurs emails, card numbers and API keys it finds on screen.
Best for. People who use Loom to show their product to customers, reviewers or clients, and want that recording to become a cleaner demo with a written guide. Common uses are product demo videos, app review videos for Shopify, Meta, Google OAuth and HubSpot, and client handover videos.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Nook pricing page: your first video is free, up to 1 minute, watermarked and view only. Starter is $9 a month for 5 videos. Pro is $19 a month for 20 videos, with every language, your own cloned voice, branded guides and handover kits. Business is $49 a month for 60 videos, with white-label pages and priority rendering. Yearly billing gives 2 months free, and extra videos are 5 for $9. No plan has seats.
Strengths.
- Keeps the recorder you already use. A Loom download works.
- A step-by-step guide with screenshots, exported to PDF, Word or Markdown. See screen recording to guide.
- Language versions, each its own MP4 and guide.
- A share link with chapters, an embed code, and kits that put several videos on one page.
Where it falls short vs Loom. Nook is not a messaging tool. It has no recorder or extension, no camera bubble, no comments on videos, no team workspace or seats, and no SSO. It is built for demos you will reuse, not for a quick reply. Use Loom, or any recorder, to capture, and Nook when the recording needs to become a demo. More in how to add an AI voiceover to a screen recording.
Guidde
What it is. Guidde records a workflow through its browser extension and generates a how-to video with an AI voiceover, plus a written version.
Best for. Support and customer success teams who use Loom to answer "how do I" questions and want those answers to be reusable how-to videos.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Guidde pricing page: Free is $0 for any web app. Pro is $29 per creator per month, or $19 billed yearly. Business is $59 per creator per month, or $39 billed yearly, with desktop and mobile capture and interactive demos. Enterprise is custom.
Strengths.
- AI narration, so nobody has to record their voice.
- A written version next to the video.
- Free viewers.
Where it falls short vs Loom. No camera-first personal messages. Desktop capture and uploading existing videos are on Business. See Guidde alternatives for more.
How to choose
Start from the job
- Quick messages to teammates and customers. Stay on Loom, or try Zight for a lower per-user price and screenshots and GIFs.
- Sales outreach. Vidyard, if you want analytics and avatars and can pay for them.
- Produced recordings for an audience. Tella on any platform, Screen Studio on a Mac.
- Real editing. Descript.
- Demos, help videos and app review screencasts from a recording you already have. Nook, which also gives you a written guide.
- Repeatable how-to videos captured as you click. Guidde.
You can also combine tools. Many people record in Loom or Screen Studio and then use another tool for editing, narration or a written guide.
Compare pricing models
- Per user or seat (Loom, Zight, Vidyard, Tella, Descript, Guidde) is predictable and grows with the team.
- Per license (Screen Studio) is one price for one person.
- Videos per month (Nook) costs the same whoever makes the video. We explain the trade-off in pricing by videos, not seats.
Moving your videos out of Loom
Download the recordings you want to keep before you cancel or move to a free plan. Raw recordings are the most useful thing to keep, because you can re-edit, re-narrate or turn them into guides in any other tool. Our demo video best practices covers what to fix when you turn a quick recording into a demo.
