Clueso turns rough screen recordings, slide decks, documents or screenshots into polished AI product videos and help articles. It does a lot: AI voiceover synced to the video, automatic zoom and spotlight effects, AI avatars, and translation into, per its site, more than 150 languages. People still look for an alternative, usually because of the yearly-only price, the export minute limits, or because they only use one part of it. This page sorts seven alternatives by the job you use Clueso for.
Written by Bibin Mathew, who makes Nook. Prices checked on October 29, 2026 on each vendor's pricing page.
We make one of the tools here, Nook. Clueso and Nook overlap more than most pairs on this page, so we try to be clear about where Clueso is the better pick.
Short answer
The best Clueso alternative depends on the job:
- A narrated demo video and a written guide from a recording you already have, priced by videos: Nook.
- Recording and documenting in one pass, with a knowledge base add-on: Trupeer.
- Lots of short how-to videos from a browser extension: Guidde.
- Written SOPs captured as you click: Scribe.
- AI avatar presenters in many languages: Synthesia.
- Full control over every cut, with text-based editing: Descript.
- Interactive click-through demos: Supademo.
If you need many languages, AI avatars and heavy visual effects in one tool, and you are happy to pay yearly, Clueso is still one of the best at what it does. Most alternatives here are narrower.
Why people look for a Clueso alternative
Clueso accepts almost any starting point. You can record with its browser extension, upload a rough recording, start from slides, a document, screenshots or a prompt, or let its browser agent walk through your product. It turns a video into step-by-step guides, SOPs and help articles with screenshots and GIFs. That breadth is why many teams pick it.
What Clueso costs in 2026
As of October 29, 2026, the Clueso pricing page lists:
| Plan | Price | Users | Video exports | Article exports | Max export |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 1 | 10 min/month | 10/month | 1080p |
| Solo | $40/month billed yearly | 1 | 15 min/month (3 hours/year) | 15/month (180/year) | 2K |
| Business | $120/month billed yearly | 2 | 30 min/month (6 hours/year) | 30/month (360/year) | 4K |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Not stated |
The page also lists AI credits per user: 1,000 on Free, 2,500 a month on Solo and 3,500 a month on Business. Watermark-free exports start on Solo. Custom fonts and advanced avatars are on Business. SSO and voice cloning are on Enterprise. Per the page, annual plans grant the full quota upfront and monthly plans do not roll unused minutes over.
When we checked, the page showed only the yearly-billed prices and a banner for 50% off Solo and Business that week, so the price you see may differ. We could not find a monthly price.
The common reasons to switch
- Export minutes are a budget. Solo gives 15 minutes of video exports a month. Three 5-minute videos use the month. Re-exports and long walkthroughs eat into it.
- The entry price is paid yearly. Solo is $480 a year upfront. That is a lot if you make a few videos a quarter.
- Only two users on Business. Teams with more people making videos move to Enterprise or pay for more plans.
- You only use one part. Some teams only want written SOPs. Others only want avatar videos. Others only want a quick narrated demo. A single-purpose tool is often simpler and cheaper.
- You want to edit by hand. Clueso is AI-first. If you want frame-level control, an editor fits better.

Nook
What it is. Nook turns a screen recording you already made into a narrated demo video and a step-by-step written guide. You upload an MP4, MOV or WebM up to 15 minutes from any recorder. There is no extension or recorder to install. Nook finds the steps from your narration, or from what is on screen if you did not talk, writes a script line per step you can edit, and voices it. You can use an AI voice in English or a native voice in 14 other languages, keep your own voice with ums and silences cut, or use captions only. Pro and Business add your own cloned voice. It adds zooms on clicks, captions, intro and outro cards with your logo, background music, and blurs emails, card numbers and API keys it finds. The guide has a screenshot per step and exports to PDF, Word and Markdown.
Best for. Founders, small teams and agencies who used Clueso to turn recordings into narrated demos and guides, and who would rather pay by videos than by yearly plan and export minutes.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Nook pricing page: first video free, up to 1 minute, watermarked and view only. Starter is $9 a month for 5 videos. Pro is $19 a month for 20 videos, with every language, your own voice, branded guides and handover kits. Business is $49 a month for 60 videos, with white-label pages and priority rendering. Yearly billing gives 2 months free, extra videos are 5 for $9, and no plan has seats. Monthly billing is available on every plan.
Strengths.
- Priced per video, not per minute. A 12-minute video counts the same as a 2-minute one.
- Keep-your-voice mode with ums and silences cut, and captions timed to your words.
- Language versions: each translation is its own MP4 and guide. See translated demo videos.
- App review presets for Shopify, Meta, Google OAuth and HubSpot, plus a share link with chapters, an embed code and handover kits that put several videos on one page.
Where it falls short vs Clueso. Clueso supports far more languages, 150+ against Nook's 15. Clueso has AI avatars, a browser extension, a browser agent, and accepts slides, documents and screenshots as input. Nook only takes a screen recording, has no avatars, no recorder, no timeline editor, no team workspace and no SSO. If those matter, Clueso is the better fit.
Trupeer
What it is. Trupeer records your screen with its own extension and generates an AI-narrated video and a document. It has AI avatars, a document editor, translation and a knowledge base add-on.
Best for. Teams who want to record and document in one place, with enterprise documentation features.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Trupeer pricing page: Free with 1,000 AI credits a month and 5-minute recordings, watermarked. Pro is $49 a month, or $40 billed yearly, for 1 creator with 2,000 credits and 10-minute recordings. Scale is $249 a month, or $199 billed yearly, for 3 creators with 10,000 credits, 15-minute recordings and translation into two languages. Enterprise is custom, with recordings up to 3 hours and 100+ languages. Knowledge base add-ons start at $120 a month.
Strengths.
- A monthly plan, unlike Clueso's yearly-only Solo.
- Long recordings on Enterprise.
- A knowledge base add-on to host the docs.
Where it falls short vs Clueso. Translation starts on Scale, where Clueso includes it on every plan. Credits are counted per minute, so long videos cost more. Its recording flow is built around its own extension. We compared it in detail in Trupeer alternatives.
Guidde
What it is. Guidde captures a workflow with a browser extension or desktop app and generates a how-to video with AI narration and a written version.
Best for. Support and customer success teams that make many short how-to videos.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Guidde pricing page: Free for up to 25 how-to videos in web apps. Pro is $29 per creator per month, or $19 billed yearly, with unlimited videos, watermark removal and export to video, PPT and PDF. Business is $59 per creator per month, or $39 billed yearly, with desktop capture, document-to-video, interactive demos and analytics. Enterprise is custom, with translation and SSO.
Strengths.
- Unlimited videos on Pro, with no export minute cap stated.
- A free plan with up to 25 videos.
- AI audio in 50+ languages, per the page.
Where it falls short vs Clueso. Guidde is recorder-first, so recordings you already have do not help much. Automatic translation is an add-on below Enterprise. Pricing is per creator.
Scribe
What it is. Scribe watches you click through a process and writes a step-by-step guide with screenshots.
Best for. Teams who only used Clueso's articles and SOPs, and do not need a video.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). The Scribe pricing page lists a free Basic plan for web apps, Pro Personal at $35 or $25 per seat per month from 1 seat, with desktop capture, branding, redaction and PDF, HTML and Markdown export, Pro Team at $17 or $13 per seat per month from 5 seats, and custom Enterprise. The page did not label which price is monthly and which is yearly; the lower one matches its yearly toggle.
Strengths.
- Very fast for written guides.
- A useful free plan for web apps.
- Easy for non-technical teammates.
Where it falls short vs Clueso. No narrated video. It captures clicks live, so it cannot use an existing recording. See Scribe alternatives if you are comparing SOP tools.
Synthesia
What it is. Synthesia makes videos with AI avatar presenters from a script, in 140+ languages and voices. You can add screen recordings or slides as backgrounds.
Best for. Training and communications teams who mostly used Clueso's avatars and want a bigger avatar library.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Synthesia pricing page: Basic is free with about 10 minutes of video. Starter is $19 a month, or $14 a month billed yearly, with 125+ avatars. Pro is $89 a month, or $59 a month billed yearly, with 180+ avatars. Enterprise is custom. Usage is counted in credits, and the page gives video minutes as estimates.
Strengths.
- The deepest avatar library on this list.
- Many languages and voices, with dubbing.
- A cheap monthly entry plan.
Where it falls short vs Clueso. Synthesia starts from a script, not a screen recording. It does not find the steps in your recording or write a step-by-step guide.
Descript
What it is. Descript is a full audio and video editor where you edit by editing the transcript. It records your screen, has a timeline, multitrack audio, an AI assistant called Underlord, filler word removal, Studio Sound, AI voices and clones, translation and avatars.
Best for. People who want to shape every cut themselves, or who also make podcasts and long-form video.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Descript pricing page: Free with 60 media minutes a month and 720p export with a watermark. Hobbyist is $24 per person per month, or $16 billed yearly, with 10 hours of media a month. Creator is $35, or $24 billed yearly, with 30 hours. Business is $65, or $50 billed yearly, with 40 hours. Enterprise is custom.
Strengths.
- Total control over the edit.
- Generous media minutes compared with Clueso's export minutes.
- Strong audio cleanup.
Where it falls short vs Clueso. You do the editing. It does not turn a recording into a step-by-step written guide, and making a polished product video takes longer than in an AI-first tool. More in Descript alternatives.
Supademo
What it is. Supademo builds interactive click-through demos from screenshots or an HTML clone, with hotspots, voiceover and branching. Its AI can turn a Loom or screen recording into a clickable demo.
Best for. Teams who want prospects or users to click through the product, not watch a video.
Price (as of October 29, 2026). From the Supademo pricing page: Free with 1 creator and 5 demos. Scale is $50 per creator per month, or $38 billed yearly. Business is $249 a month, or $199 billed yearly, with 1 creator. Growth is $450 a month, or $350 billed yearly, with 5 creators. Enterprise is custom.
Strengths.
- Viewers click through at their own pace.
- Unlimited views on every plan.
- Share as a link, embed, video or PDF.
Where it falls short vs Clueso. It is a different format. If you need a narrated product video and help articles, Supademo covers only part of the job. See Supademo alternatives.
How to choose
- Do you already have recordings? Nook and Clueso both work from files. Descript imports any footage but you edit it. Trupeer and Guidde are built around their own recorders. Scribe captures clicks.
- Do you need a written guide too? Nook, Clueso, Trupeer and Guidde produce both. Scribe produces only the guide.
- How many languages? Clueso, Synthesia and Trupeer Enterprise go past 100. Nook covers English plus 14 others.
- Do you need a presenter on screen? Synthesia, Clueso, Trupeer or Descript. Nook does not do avatars.
- Do you want to edit by hand? Descript.
- Should viewers click? Supademo.
Compare pricing models
- Export minutes or credits (Clueso, Trupeer, Synthesia) grow with video length.
- Per seat or per creator (Guidde, Scribe, Descript, Supademo) grows with the team.
- Videos per month (Nook) costs the same whatever the length, up to 15 minutes. We explain why in pricing by videos, not seats.
Here is a simple example. Ten 4-minute videos a month is 40 export minutes, more than Clueso Business includes. On Nook Pro that is 10 of 20 videos, at $19 a month. If you need avatars or 50 languages, though, that comparison does not matter, because Nook cannot do it.
Test with one real recording
Run the same two-minute recording through your top two choices. Judge how usable the first script is, how long fixes take, how the video looks on a phone and on mute, and whether the guide fits where your docs live. Our guide to turning a screen recording into a step-by-step guide explains what a good guide looks like.
