Trupeer and Nook both take a screen recording and turn it into a polished video with an AI script, voiceover, captions and a written guide. They come at it from different ends. Trupeer is a full platform for teams documenting how work happens, with its own recorder, avatars, a document editor and enterprise controls. Nook is a smaller tool that works from any recording you already have and charges per video instead of per seat.
We build Nook, so read this with that in mind. We have tried to be fair to Trupeer, and every Trupeer price below comes from its pricing page as of October 2026.
Short answer
Choose Trupeer if you are a team or a larger company that wants one place to record, edit and publish training videos, SOPs and process docs, with a browser recorder, AI avatars, a block-based document editor, a knowledge base, SSO and admin controls. Trupeer is built for that, and Nook does not try to be.
Choose Nook if you already have a recording (from QuickTime, OBS, Zoom, Snipping Tool or a Loom download) and want a narrated demo plus a step-by-step guide without a subscription or seats. Nook also covers jobs Trupeer does not focus on: social and short cuts from the same recording, an Animated story for launches, and presets for app review videos like Shopify and Google OAuth verification.
If you make a handful of videos a year, Nook's $9 per video will cost far less. If you need an enterprise documentation platform, Trupeer is the better fit.

What Trupeer does well
Trupeer is a serious, mature product, and in several areas it is ahead of us. Being fair about that matters if you are choosing.
- It has its own recorder. Trupeer ships a Chrome extension, so you can record and process in one flow. You can also upload an existing video. Nook's recorder extension is not in the Chrome Web Store yet.
- It treats documentation as a first-class product. Trupeer's pricing page lists a block-based document editor with slash commands, rich text, hyperlinks, find and replace, image annotations, a screenshot editor (Scale and up) and version history (Enterprise). Its homepage talks about SOPs, manuals, job aids, process guides, test cases and GxP documents. If the written document matters more to you than the video, that depth is real.
- It has AI avatars. You can add an AI presenter to a video for extra credits, and Enterprise customers can get custom voice and avatar clones. Nook has no avatars.
- It goes much longer. Enterprise recordings can run up to 3 hours, and Enterprise can merge multiple recordings. Nook stops at 15 minutes.
- It is built for teams and enterprises. Roles and permissions, commenting, workspaces, team usage analytics, viewer analytics, reviewer and approval workflows, SAML SSO, SCIM, exportable audit logs and data residency on request. Trupeer cites SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and GDPR. If your security team sends questionnaires, Trupeer is ready for them.
- It goes beyond video. A knowledge base add-on with AI search, "Ask AI" across your content, an MCP option, SCORM export for learning systems, and custom domain hosting.
- It supports far more languages. The pricing page lists 100+ languages for voiceovers and translations, with bulk translation on Enterprise.
If you are an operations, enablement or L&D team at a company of any size, these are the features you will use, and Trupeer has them.
What Trupeer costs in 2026
These prices are from the Trupeer pricing page as of October 2026. Yearly billing saves 20%.
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed yearly | Seats | Credits per month | Max recording |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 1 | 1,000 | 5 min |
| Pro | $49/month | $40/month | 1 | 2,000 | 10 min |
| Scale | $249/month | $199/month | 3 | 10,000 | 15 min |
| Enterprise | Custom, annual contract | Custom | 5 minimum | Custom | 3 hours |
Add-ons: a Knowledge Base at $150/month ($120 yearly) and a Knowledge Base with AI Search at $200/month ($180 yearly). Enterprise includes both.
How credits work, per Trupeer's FAQ:
- AI video costs 100 credits per minute.
- An AI document costs 50 credits.
- Translation costs 100 credits per minute for each language.
- An AI avatar costs a further 50 credits per minute.
- Re-exporting something you already generated is free.
- Pro, Scale and Enterprise can top up at $4 per 100 credits.
- Unused credits do not roll over.
So on Pro, 2,000 credits is about 20 minutes of AI video a month, or about five 3-minute videos with a document each (350 credits each). Free plan exports carry a Trupeer watermark, and watermark-free exports start on Pro. Translation starts on Scale.
What Nook does differently
Nook does one job: you bring a recording, and it gives you back a narrated video and a written guide. Here is what that means in practice.
- It works from any file you already have. Upload an MP4, MOV or WebM up to 15 minutes from QuickTime, Windows Snipping Tool, OBS, Zoom or a Loom download. You do not need to install anything or re-record in a new tool.
- It works with silent recordings too. If you talked, Nook splits steps from your narration. If you did not, a vision model reads the frames to find the steps.
- It writes one script line per step. You can edit every line, pick a voice, set the pace, cut or skip steps, and re-render. There is no timeline editor, by design.
- You can keep your own voice. Nook can use a natural AI voiceover, or keep your audio with the ums, silences and dead time cut and captions timed to your actual words, or skip voice and use captions only.
- It blurs sensitive data. Nook scans screenshots for emails, phone numbers, card numbers and API keys and blurs them in both the video and the guide.
- One recording becomes several videos. From the same upload you can render a Social cut (9:16, up to 30 seconds), a Short (16:9, up to 60 seconds), a Square (1:1, up to 60 seconds), a Vertical full-length version, and an Animated story: each step on your brand background, either as the real screen in a browser-style window with zoom toward the click, or as redrawn clean cards, up to 90 seconds.
- It has app review presets. Presets and checklists for Shopify, Meta, Google OAuth verification and HubSpot, with written test steps. See our guide to app review demo video requirements.
- You pay per video, not per seat. There are no seats anywhere in our pricing.
Nook is new and run by a small team. It edits recordings, it does not record them yet. Vision-based step detection can misjudge very fast or very visual recordings, though you can edit the steps.

| Pro | $19/month or $190/year | 10 videos a month (about $1.90 each), unused videos carry over one month, extra videos 5 for $12, all 7 languages, 20 re-renders per video |

Feature by feature
Capture and input
Trupeer gives you a Chrome extension recorder and also accepts uploaded videos, plus mobile and vertical recordings. If you want to record inside the tool, that is a real convenience.
Nook only takes uploads today. The upside is that it does not care where the file came from. If your team records with OBS, QuickTime or Zoom, or you have old Loom videos sitting in a folder, you can use those as they are. Our Chrome recorder, which captures exact clicks, is coming soon. Browser chrome in your recording appears as-is, so record in a clean window.
Script and voice
Both tools write a script from your recording and let you edit it. Trupeer lists AI script generation and polishing, "Rewrite with AI," standard voices on every plan and premium voices from Scale up, with custom voice clones on Enterprise.
Nook writes one line per step and you edit those lines directly, then re-render. The option Trupeer does not list is keeping your own voice with filler and dead time cut out, with captions timed to your real words. If you like how you sound but not how long you took, that helps. If you need your exact voice reproduced in new words, Trupeer's Enterprise voice clones are the closer match. Nook's AI voice is not your voice unless you keep your own audio.
Avatars
Trupeer offers AI avatar presenters at 50 extra credits per minute, with custom avatar clones on Enterprise. Nook has none. If your training videos need a face, choose Trupeer.
Editing
Trupeer's Pro plan adds trim, split, skip, sync and crop, plus transitions, intro and outro, chapters, scenes and auto zoom. It is a fuller editor.
Nook deliberately has no timeline. You work step by step: edit a line, cut a step, change the pace, re-render. That is faster for most demos and a limit if you want frame-level control. Our article on demo video best practices covers the pacing and zoom choices that matter most either way.
Written guides
Both tools produce a written guide from the recording, and both export PDF, Word and Markdown on paid plans. Trupeer's document side is deeper: block editor, slash commands, find and replace, a screenshot editor on Scale, version history on Enterprise, a knowledge base add-on and SCORM export.
Nook's guide is simpler: a heading, short note and screenshot per step, with boxes and arrows you can draw on each screenshot. Markdown export pastes cleanly into Notion or Confluence. If you just need the guide in your help center, that is usually enough. See how to turn a screen recording into a step-by-step guide.
Translation
Trupeer supports 100+ languages for voice and translation. Translation starts on Scale (2 languages included) and Enterprise (10 included, more on request), and each language costs 100 credits per minute.
Nook covers Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Hindi, Japanese and Chinese, each with a native voice, so 8 languages including English. One video includes 2 translations and Pro includes all 7. If you need Polish, Arabic or Korean, Trupeer wins. If those seven cover your market, Nook gets you there on a $19 plan. More on translated demo videos.
Privacy blur
Trupeer lists automatic PII smart blur as an Enterprise feature. Nook scans for emails, phone numbers, card numbers and API keys and blurs them in the video and the guide. Treat both as a safety net and still review the result before you publish.
Social cuts and launch videos
Trupeer is focused on training and documentation, and we did not find social cuts or launch-style formats on its pricing page. Nook renders 9:16, 16:9, 1:1 and vertical cuts and the Animated story from the same recording, which is useful for Product Hunt launches and social posts.
App review videos
Shopify, Meta, Google OAuth and HubSpot all ask for screencasts with specific steps. Nook has presets and checklists for each, with written test steps. We did not find an equivalent on Trupeer's site. If you are submitting an app, start with our Shopify app review screencast guide or the app review videos page.
Sharing
Trupeer offers share pages and embeds on every plan, with invited, organization and domain-level sharing on higher plans, branded share pages, and full white-label and custom domains on Enterprise.
Nook gives every video a share page with chapters, embed code, MP4 download and an optional password and expiry. Studio replaces Nook's brand with yours on share pages.
Teams, security and admin
This is where Trupeer is clearly ahead. Roles, workspaces, comments, approval workflows, analytics, SSO, SCIM, audit logs and SOC 2 Type II. Nook is not an enterprise platform and does not offer that admin layer. If procurement needs those boxes ticked, choose Trupeer.
What a year costs, by the way you work
Trupeer figures use yearly billing where it makes sense and the credit costs from its FAQ. Your numbers will vary with video length.
| How you work | Trupeer | Nook |
|---|---|---|
| A few videos a year, 3 minutes each (say 4) | Free plan has a watermark and a 5-minute cap. Watermark-free needs Pro, $49 for each month you subscribe | 4 x $9 = $36 |
| Solo founder, about 5 videos a month, 3 minutes each, with guides | Pro yearly, $480 (about 1,750 credits a month, within 2,000) | Pro yearly, $190 |
| Solo, about 10 videos a month, 3 minutes each, with guides | Pro yearly $480 plus about 1,500 extra credits a month at $4 per 100 ($720 a year), about $1,200 | Pro yearly, $190 |
| Small team, about 20 videos a month, with translations | Scale yearly, $2,388, with translation in 2 languages (credits will be the limit to watch) | Studio yearly, $490 for 30 videos a month, no seats |
| Large company needing SSO, approvals, audit logs | Enterprise, custom contract | Not a fit |
The gap is widest for people who make a few videos or a steady handful each month. For enterprise documentation, the comparison is not really about price.
Which to choose
Trupeer is the better choice if:
- You want to record inside the tool with a browser extension.
- You need AI avatars or custom voice clones.
- The written document is your main output and you want a full editor, version history and a knowledge base.
- You need recordings longer than 15 minutes.
- You need more than Nook's 8 languages.
- You need SSO, SCIM, audit logs, approval workflows or SOC 2 paperwork.
Nook is the better choice if:
- You already have recordings and do not want to re-record.
- You make videos occasionally and want to pay per video, not per month or per seat.
- You want social cuts, a short or an Animated story from the same recording.
- You are submitting a Shopify, Meta, Google OAuth or HubSpot app review video.
- You want to keep your own voice, minus the ums and dead time.
- You want privacy blur without an enterprise contract.
Some teams use both: Trupeer for internal training, Nook for public demos, launches and app reviews.
Switching from Trupeer to Nook
You do not lose much by trying Nook alongside Trupeer.
- Export the MP4s you need from Trupeer. Re-exporting existing content does not cost credits, per Trupeer's FAQ.
- Export your guides as Markdown or PDF so you keep the written versions.
- For new demos, record with whatever tool you like and upload the raw file to Nook. If you still have the original recording, use that rather than the finished Trupeer video, so Nook works from clean footage.
- Try your first video free (up to 1 minute), or pay $9 for a full one before deciding on a plan.
